FESTIVAL TERÁ BRIGITTE BARDOT E HOMENAGEM

24° Festival Internacional de Cinema em Moscou começa
no próximo dia 21 de junho e nos seus dez dias de duração
irá surpreender a comunidade cinematográfica com
o alto nível de sua seleção. Esta é
a promessa do cineasta Nikita Mikhalkov, presidente da União
de Cineastas Russos. A 19ª edição do festival,
com o ator americano Richard Gere como presidente do júri,
provocou um incidente escandaloso quando resolveu que nenhum dos
22 filmes selecionados era digno do grande prêmio. "Não
é possível ver seis horas de filme por dia e achar
que se deve premiar um deles só porque ele vem de um país
em guerra", ele disse...
A lista de filmes em competição este ano, revelada
esta semana, terá os novos trabalhos dos irmãos
italianos Paolo e Vittorio Taviani, a brasileira Suzana Amaral,
o polonês Krzysztof Zanussi e o americano Bob Rafelson,
que também será homenageado pelo festival. A seleção
anuncia uma retrospectiva-homenagem ao cineasta francês
Roger Vadim, com a presença confirmada de Brigitte Bardot,
uma de suas cinco mulheres, ao lado de outras celebridades como
Jane Fonda e Catherine Deneuve. Roger Vadim consagrou Bardot internacionalmente
com o filme de 1956 "E Deus Criou a Mulher" (ambos na
foto).
O festival de Moscou ocupou uma posição importante
no panorama dos festivais no tempo da União Soviética,
significando uma espécie de resistência aos padrões
monolíticos de cinema, inclusive com adesões de
cineastas americanos, gesto de solidariedade que prossegue até
os nossos dias. Naquela época Moscou era um festival bienal,
revezando-se no calendário com outro festival soviético
bienal, o então pomposo Festival dos Povos do Terceiro
Mundo em Tashkent, no Usbequistão.

WILL HAVE BRIGITTE BARDOT AND TRIBUTE TO VADIM
The
24th Moscow International Film Festival starts next June 21
and during its 10 days will surprise the cinema community
with the high level of its selection. This is the promise
made by the filmmaker Nikita Mikhalkov, president of the Russian
Filmmakers Union. The 19th edition of the festival, which
had the American actor Richard Gere as the president of the
jury, caused a scandalous incident deciding that none of the
22 selected films deserved the prize. "It is not possible
to watch six hours of film a day and find one of them should
be awarded only because it comes from a country at war",
he said…
The competition list, published this week, presents the new
works by the Italian brothers Paolo and Vittorio Taviani,
the Brazilian Suzana Amaral, the Polish Krzysztof Zanussi
and the American Bob Rafelson, who will also be honored with
a tribute by the festival. The selection announces a retrospective-homage
to the French filmmaker Roger Vadim, with the confirmed presence
of Brigitte Bardot, one of his five wives, besides other celebrities
such as Jane Fonda and Catherine Deneuve. Roger Vadim internationally
consecrated Bardot with his 1956 film "And God Created
Woman" (both in the picture).
Moscow festival had an important position in the festivals
panorama during the Soviet Union, symbolizing a kind of resistance
to the monolithic patterns in cinema, including the participation
of some American filmmakers, a solidarity gesture that is
kept till our days. By that time Moscow was a biennial festival,
shifting place in the calendars with another biennial Soviet
festival, the grandiose Third World Peoples Festival in Tashkent,
Uzbekistan.
