VENEZA 2002

FESTIVAL COMEÇA SOB O SIGNO BERLUSCONI

Depois do vendaval das demissões políticas na Itália direitista de Silvio Berlusconi, que atingiu também os altos cargos da Bienal de Veneza, começou nesta quinta o 59° Festival de Veneza que ninguém queria aceitar dirigir depois da demissão de Alberto Barbera. Coube a missão a Moritz de Hadeln, o ex do Festival de Berlim, o que deverá significar mais atenção ao cinema asiático, do leste europeu e, sobretudo, às produções de Hollywood. Até 8 de setembro, sob a presidência da atriz chinesa Gong Li, o júri de Veneza verá os seguintes filmes para escolher qual deles fica com o seu prêmio máximo Leão de Ouro, sem nenhum filme latino-americano na seleção:

FESTIVAL STARTS UNDER THE SIGN OF BERLUSCONI

After the whirlwind of political dismissals at Silvio Berlusconi’s right-winged Italy, that also reached the higher positions of the Venice Biennale, the 59th International Venice Film Festival began this Thursday, a festival no one wished to direct after the dismissal of Alberto Barbera. The mission was designated to Moritz de Hadeln, ex-Berlin Festival, what might mean more attention towards Asian cinema, Eastern Europe and, above all, Hollywood productions. Till September 8th, under the presidency of Chinese actress Gong Li, the Venice jury will be watching the following films from which they’ll choose the one that will receive the maximum prize, the Golden Lion, there isn’t any Latin American film in the selection:
