jornalista, roteirista, animador de televisão e escritor Rubens
Ewald Filho lança mais um livro - o quarto no período de
um ano. Desta vez, dedicado ao seu grande amor - o prêmio Oscar,
"uma instituição tão duradoura (75 anos) porque
é um prêmio fundamentalmente honesto; nunca houve um escândalo
ou caso de corrupção", afirma o estudioso. O livro
de luxo, editado pela Companhia Editora Nacional, vem com o sugestivo
título "RUBENS EWALD FILHO: O OSCAR E EU".
O
bom no livro de Ewald é satisfazer a toda uma legião de
espectadores e amantes do cinema com a vasta abrangência de respostas
e curiosidades sobre a clássica questão do "tudo que
você queria saber sobre.... e tinha vergonha de perguntar".
É o que faz do livro uma deliciosa e obsessiva leitura. Embora
o autor diga não se tratar de um livro de consultas, também
o é pela simples inclusão da lista de todos os premiados
nestes 75 anos da estatueta.
No livro dedicado a Dulce Damasceno de Brito, amiga de gerações
de cinéfilos e correspondente do império jornalístico
brasileiro de Assis Chateaubriand em Hollywood por 20 anos, Rubens Ewald
Filho tem também o seu lado autobiográfico. Ele descreve
o seu 'caso de amor' com o cinema, "seu parceiro de infância",
como uma terapia que até hoje funciona "para reverter insegurança,
complexos e relacionamentos mal resolvidos".
Os
capítulos do livro são reproduções de títulos
de filmes premiados com o Oscar. Mas são os intertítulos
que os explicam. Exemplos: "O Oscar e o Macarthismo", "A
Maldição do Oscar", "Injustiças Famosas",
"Atores que foram Esquecidos" ou "Gafes, discursos, curiosidades
e momentos embaraçosos". Em mais de 50 páginas do livro
o autor promove uma bem abrangente sessão de perguntas e respostas
do tipo "Qual a primeira refilmagem a ganhar o Oscar?, "Qual
foi o primeiro filme dirigido por uma mulher a ganhar o Oscar de filme
em língua estrangeira?", "Marilyn Monroe alguma vez foi
indicada ao Oscar?", "Quem recebeu o maior número de
indicações pelo mesmo filme?"
O
novo livro de Rubens Ewald Filho apresenta uma vantagem editorial que
já foi inaugurada nesta sua primeira edição: a de
poder ser atualizado ano a ano, com o acréscimo dos novos vencedores.
De uma maneira ousada, Ewald já fez isso, certamente garantindo
para o seu feito um ineditismo e recorde internacionais: ele apresentou
a festa do Oscar até as 3 da manhã (horário brasileiro)
pela televisão e foi ao computador finalizar o último capítulo
do livro que já estaria pronto para a noite de autógrafos

The
journalist, scriptwriter, TV presenter and writer Rubens Ewald Filho has
just published another book, his fourth in one year. This time, dedicated
to his major love - The Academy Awards - The Oscars, "a long lasting
institution (75 years) because it's a prize fundamentally honest; there
has never been a scandalous or a corruptive event", says the specialist.
The luxurious book, published by "Companhia Editora Nacional",
comes up with the suggestive title "RUBENS EWALD FILHO: O OSCAR E
EU" (Rubens Ewald Filho: The Oscar and I).
The
good thing about Ewald's book is pleasing a vast number of spectators
and cinema lovers with a great deal of answers and curiosities about the
traditional question "everything you wanted to know about…
and was ashamed to ask". This is what makes the book an obsessive
and pleasant reading. Although the author says that it isn't a research
book, it is because it comes with a list of all rewarded winners in these
75 years.
In
the book dedicated to Dulce Damasceno de Brito, a friend of generations
of cinema lovers and correspondent in Hollywood of the Brazilian journalist
empire owned by Assis Chateaubriand during 20 years, Rubens Ewald Filho
has also his autobiographic side. He describes his passion for cinema,
his partner in his childhood, as a therapy that works out well till today
"to switch insecurity, complexes and puzzling relationships".
The
book's chapters are reproductions of films titles awarded with the Oscar,
but what explains them are in true the topics presented throughout them.
For example: "The Oscars and The McCarthyism", "The Oscars
Curse" "Famous Injustices", "Forgotten Actors"
or "Indiscretions, speeches, curiosities and embarrassing moments".
Throughout some 50 pages in the book, its author provides us with a wide
Q & A session such as: "which is the first remake to win the
Oscar?", "which is the first film directed by a woman to win
the Oscar of Foreign Language Film?" "Has Marilyn Monroe ever
been nominated to the Oscar?", "Who´s got the highest
number of indications for the same film?".
Rubens
Ewald Filho's new book has a publishing advantage presented in this first
edition: it can be updated yearly, adding the upcoming winners. In a daring
way, Ewald has already done that - he´s guaranteed himself international
record and an unprecedented fact: he presented the Academy Awards till
3 in the morning (Brazilian time) on television and then ran to the computer
to finish the last chapter of the book which would be ready for its launching
