CANNES
2002:
'DIRECTOR'S FORTNIGHT' RELEASES ITS SELECTION
The
dilemma that bothers most of the press covering Cannes festival
has been known for years: cover the official selection with
the competition films for the newspapers means sacrificing
the adventure of discovering films and authors in the parallel
selections of this great event.
Even
the films at 'Un Certain Regard' are sacrificed for the
official covering. 'Un Certain Regard', an official section
of the festival, was created to face the 'Director's fortnight',
that grew year by year, since 1969, and would even dispute
potential competition films.
But
'Director's Fortnight' gets to its 34th year of parallel
activities and is still disputing films with the other festival
showcases, only contributing to increase the running around
from theater to theater, for the ones who have the energy,
of course, putting session upon session, but preserving
the exciting taste of discoveries and revelations. From
May 15 to 26 besides the competitive selections, Un Certain
Regard, Critics Week, here is the list of films in the 'Director's
Fortnight'. May there be breath and energy.
